Patient Immobilization, or head immobilization, is an important step of Radiosurgery treatment. For Gamma Knife, a rigid frame secured using screws is typically used. While in a frameless system, a thermoplastic mouldable mask is created every time a treatment is to be done for a particular patient. All LINAC-based machines use this method and have almost given up rigid fixation.
